Joystick-operated robot designed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology can be installed in smaller hospitals and guided remotely by trained surgeons in large medical centers. Operators can watch live imaging while steering medical wires through blood vessels by adjusting the direction of magnets on the robotic wrist. The system allows surgeons to rapidly treat stroke or aneurysm patients remotely, saving the prime time for post-onset treatment.
