Sweat Sensing Wearable Devices A Revolutionary Approach to Monitor Inflammatory Bowel Disease

刊登時間

A study evaluating the effectiveness of sweat sensing wearable devices in monitoring patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).
Researchers at the University of Alabama in Huntsville have designed a low-cost wearable biosensor using a new type of triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG) to measure human muscle activation. This sensor is self-powering, lightweight, low-cost, and disposable.
Sweat represents an attractive biofluid for sampling and monitoring using wearable devices, as it can be assessed non-invasively and continually for important biomarkers. This opens up the possibility of real-time assessment of analyte concentrations and the monitoring of disease activity over time, presenting a novel means to evaluate disease markers and outcomes.
