IHH Healthcare Singapore estimates it is saving about 31,000 hours of administrative and operational effort annually after rolling out a platform that gives nursing and operations teams near-real-time visibility of patient flow and hospital capacity across its four hospitals.
The Patient Intelligence Centre (PIC) consolidates data from hospital systems, including bed management and operating theatre scheduling, to give teams a unified view of bed occupancy, admissions, transfers and other operational activity.
Since the implementation, IHH Singapore nurse leaders have been able to monitor capacity and coordinate admissions and transfers with greater visibility across hospitals, anticipate patient movements and prepare more smoothly for ward admission, and identify busy periods earlier to adjust staffing or patient flow before units become overwhelmed.
They also have earlier visibility of incoming patient demand, while bed occupancy and OT utilisation data better inform operational discussions.
Planned future capabilities include enhanced visibility of radiology operations, workforce attendance information, pharmacy-related workflows, patient acuity management and additional operational reporting.
