Patient safety goals
📍Improve doctor-patient communication and encourage patients and their families to participate in patient safety work
Brain CTA is an important examination in departments of radiology, but the amount of brain CTA is relatively small compared to other CT examinations. As a result, there are fewer training opportunities for new radiologic technologists (RTs) or UGYs, which makes training ineffective. If the performance of brain CTA fails, the patient needs to be reexamined, which increases the radiation dose to the patient and the amount of iodinated contrast agent, causing unnecessary patient harm. The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has also affected medical capacity, making the training situation even worse due to manpower constraints and few hospital patients. Therefore, we have developed a brain CTA simulation system to allow trainees to learn independently, increase familiarity, avoid examination failure, improve examination success rate, and ensure patient safety.
