The rapid development of smart healthcare has resulted in the widespread usage of information technology which has led to potential patient-safety risks such as data leaks, identification errors, and inappropriate system prompts. Therefore, the JCT established Taiwan's first Information Technology-related Patient Safety (ITPS) risk learning platform in 2021. Reported incidents on the ITPS platform consisted of incident profile, incident type, incident description, impact on patient safety, systems with problem, devices/equipment involved, incident impact, and possible causes. Its objective is to gather data from hospital information technology systems and equipment, analyze associated data, and uncover the root causes of patientsafety or healthcare quality risks caused by information technology. The platform can facilitate healthcare service quality improvement and provide a safer medical environment for patients.
