Montreal Children's on its way to becoming a technologically 'smart' hospital

The Montreal Children’s Hospital is on its way to becoming one of the first medical institutions on the planet — if not the first — to monitor the vital signs of its tiny patients with wireless equipment, a change that will improve the children’s quality of life and simplify the tasks of health professionals.

A premature infant in intensive care is now linked to monitors tracking their heart rate, skin temperature and blood oxygen count. Another scanner sounds an alarm in the case of an episode of sleep apnea.
