"Opening the Era of Smart Orthopedic Wards"... Yonsei Saeroun Hospital Introduces AI Bed Monitoring 'thynC'

Updated

Yonsei Saeroun Hospital has partnered with pharmaceutical company to implement and officially launch the artificial intelligence (AI)-based smart bed monitoring system  across 40 beds. This initiative was pursued to reflect the characteristics of the hospital as an orthopedic specialty institution with a high proportion of joint, spine, and fracture patients, aiming to monitor post-surgery recovery, prevent falls, and enhance patient mobility convenience.

The systems analyzes key vital signs in real time, including heart rate, oxygen saturation, respiration, body temperature, and electrocardiogram, and immediately sends alerts to medical staff if any abnormal signs are detected. The systems applying wireless wearable devices, has significantly resolved the issues of 'cord entanglement and fall risk' and 'mobility restrictions' caused by traditional wired monitoring equipment. Surgical patients who frequently move-such as those using wheelchairs, walking with crutches, going to the restroom, or participating in walking exercises and rehabilitation therapy-can have their status checked in real time even while on the move, thereby enhancing both safety and convenience. Furthermore, systems can detect abnormal movements, enabling early detection of falls even at night or in blind spots.
