South Korea's National Cancer Center is developing a new AI model to predict drug responses, envisioning it acting as a "virtual clinical trial site" for new drug candidates.
The generative AI-based model called Biological World Model will be trained to learn cell experiment results and predict drug responses in organoids and animal models, which are said to closely resemble real biological environments.
Aiming to improve the efficiency of cancer treatment development and raise drug development success, NCC researchers expect their upcoming AI model to predict how cancer cells change and identify which genes are activated or suppressed when a specific drug is administered.
