South Korea first to integrate BP ring in hypertension guidelines

Updated

South Korea has become the first nation in the world to officially recommend ring-type cuffless blood pressure monitors as part of mainstream hypertension treatment.

This comes following the Korean Society of Hypertension's (KSH) recent revision of the country's clinical treatment guidelines for hypertension, which now include the use of a ring-type cuffless blood pressure monitor, or BP ring.

In the sixth revised edition of the Korean Society of Hypertension Guidelines for the Management of Hypertension, BP rings may be considered for out-of-office BP monitoring for patients with prehypertension and high-risk groups requiring intensive BP control.

The KSH made its world's first official recommendation for ring-type cuffless BP devices, citing recent research showing that a Korean-made BP ring, Sky Labs' CART BP pro, delivered comparable performance to the traditional auscultatory method and standard 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, or ABPM.
