Digital coaching, constant glucose monitoring improve health of people at risk of diabetes: HPB

Updated

A continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) trial coupled with digital coaching has yielded encouraging results, with participants achieving better blood sugar control and weight loss.

The DigiCoach pilot is one of several initiatives by the Health Promotion Board (HPB) to better engage citizens and residents digitally in health matters.

The DigiCoach pilot, announced in 2024 and concluded in mid-2025, targeted those with pre-diabetes and high body mass index (BMI), helping them better manage their health and potentially prevent or delay the onset of illness.

Participants used a mobile app and a CGM device to log their meals and physical activity, and received reports on their blood glucose levels.

They also attended digital health coaching sessions via the app, where they were guided through questions and prompts to reflect on factors that helped them manage their condition and the steps they could take to further improve their health.

Tapping technology and artificial intelligence for personalised health nudges allows more effective engagement.
