An initial network has been formed in Indonesia to develop healthcare AI infrastructure and digital health solutions designed for the country's health system while preserving national control over health data.
Privately held health technology company Articura recently signed memorandums of understanding with five organisations to develop Indonesia's Sovereign Healthcare AI Platform.
This initial network will focus on identifying practical use cases for AI and testing potential applications across different care settings.
It plans to introduce new digital solutions in phases.
Following the signing of the MOUs, Articura also announced its plans to establish the National AI Healthcare Lab, "a living demonstration, validation, innovation and education environment" where healthcare professionals, researchers, institutions and technology partners can develop AI models, validate healthcare use cases, support research and professional education, and turn promising concepts into clinical applications.
The lab is intended as a collaborative centre for Indonesia's emerging healthcare AI community.
