Malaysia's Ministry of Health and HIMSS have agreed to partner for an initiative to assess the digital maturity of 13 health clinics and one hospital in the northernmost Malaysian state of Perlis.
Announced yesterday at the HIMSS26 APAC Conference in Singapore, this first-phase initiative will see 13 health clinics, to be jointly selected by the MOH and HIMSS, assessed against the Community Care Outcomes Maturity Model (C-COMM).
According to HIMSS, the initiative represents the first time the C-COMM framework will be implemented in a public health system.
The initiative is intended to provide the MOH with independently assessed insights into digital health maturity using internationally recognised frameworks.
Insights from the assessments are also expected to support improvements in patient care, healthcare operations and workforce development.
The Perlis project is positioned as a proof of concept supporting Malaysia's One Record, One Citizen national EMR initiative.
It aims to establish a repeatable model that the MOH could use in other states and hospitals over time.
