HIMSS has previewed the second version of its Digital Health Indicator, which will have five dimensions, with AI embedded across each.
According to Dr Anne Snowdon, chief scientific officer of HIMSS, one significant change in DHI 2.0 is the separation of the "AI-enabled workforce" from the existing governance and workforce dimension, reflecting AI's growing impact on clinical work environments.
HIMSS is now developing the components that will determine what is measured across the five dimensions.
The updated model is expected to place greater emphasis on the flow of trusted data across facilities, its accessibility and integrity, and how organisations maintain privacy and security.
The AI-enabled workforce dimension will examine workforce capabilities, the usability of digital and AI tools and clinicians' trust in them.
The governance and leadership dimension will cover areas including AI strategy, leadership accountability, lifecycle monitoring and risk management, with a stronger focus on cybersecurity and resilience.
The analytics dimension, meanwhile, will examine how AI is integrated into clinical settings and used to advance an organisation's broader digital transformation goals and health system performance.
