SGH AI cuts brain bleed reporting time

Updated

Singapore General Hospital has deployed an AI tool that automatically flags suspected brain bleeds on brain CT scans and alerts clinicians to cases requiring urgent review.

Developed with Singapore's national health tech agency Synapxe and local startup Iota MedTech, iScreen is the first head CT AI model available on the national AI medical imaging platform, AimSG.

Once a head CT scan is available in SGH's radiology information system and picture archiving and communication system, iScreen automatically analyses it for suspected intracranial haemorrhage (ICH), returns a positive or negative result, identifies the haemorrhage subtype and highlights the relevant image slices for radiologists.

If the model detects a suspected bleed, the result appears on the radiology worklist, and an SMS alert is sent to the reporting radiologist and attending doctor, allowing them to prioritise the scan over routine cases.
