Highlights of Workload Reduction
The integration of a cloud-based wound monitoring system with telehealth
services has significantly reduced the workload for outpatient and nursing
staff. The key outcomes are as follows:
1. Time saved on dressing changes: For patients requiring simple dressing changes, remote image reporting combined with guidance from wound case managers has saved approximately 1.5 nursing hours per clinic session, effectively reducing staff overtime and workload.
2. Fewer unnecessary clinic visits: Each patient experienced a reduction of 1 to 2 outpatient visits on average, helping to alleviate clinic congestion and reduce staffing and space pressures.
3. Improved care efficiency: The system supports smart dressing selection and wound documentation, reducing redundant assessments and manual data entry by healthcare providers, thereby enhancing overall clinical workflow.
4. Real-time risk alerts: Wound images are interpreted in real-time by either AI models or clinical wound care staff. In cases that show signs of infection or deterioration, the system activates a "Green Channel" for immediate referral to a specialist, minimizing treatment delays.
5. Significant cost-effectiveness: Each department can save over NTD 50,000 in nursing labor costs permonth, optimizing healthcare resource utilization. In addition, patients can report their wound status daily via mobile phone.
Care teams can respond remotely in real-time and adjust treatment strategies as needed, enhancing patient engagement and the quality of homebased self-care.
In response to the growing challenges of wound care associated with aging and chronic diseases, our hospital has implemented a Cloud-Based Wound Monitoring System, integrating telemedicine, loT, and intelligent triage mechanisms to establish a next-generation wound care model.
